Manage your device

To be able to sync content between your mobile device and Ovi, your device must be compatible with Ovi Sync, and it must be associated with your account on Ovi. You can add and sync more than one device to Ovi.

Add your mobile device to Ovi

To add your mobile device to Ovi, browse to Ovi using your mobile device browser, and do the following:

  1. Sign in to Ovi, and select Add a device on the home page.
  2. Select your mobile device from the drop-down list, enter your mobile number, select your country, language, and time zone from the drop-down lists, and select Next . Remember to include the international country code when entering your mobile phone number. For the UK, the code is +44. You must select the same time zone as in your mobile device settings.
  3. Check your details on the Confirm your details page, and select Next . You will receive the sync settings for your mobile device in a text message. If you do not receive the sync settings, select Send it again on the Setup page.
  4. Note down the PIN code given on the Setup page, and select Next .
  5. Select Done on the Congratulations page to exit the setup wizard.
  6. Navigate to the sync settings text message on your mobile device, and enter the PIN code. You remain signed in to Ovi and can return to your session later.
  7. Select Options > Save to install the settings to your mobile device.
  8. Navigate back to your device browser and your Ovi session.

To add more mobile devices to Ovi, select Manage your devices on the Ovi home page, then select Add a device , and repeat steps 2–8.

Remove your mobile device from Ovi

To remove your mobile device from Ovi:

  1. Sign in to Ovi on your mobile device, and select Manage your devices on the Ovi home page.
  2. Select Remove device on the Manage your device page.
  3. Select Remove . The device details are deleted from Ovi, and you can no longer sync the removed device with Ovi.

Manage your device

To manage your devices on Ovi, sign in to Ovi, and select Manage your devices on the Ovi home page.

Switch off sync

To switch off Ovi sync on your device, select Switch off syncing and then Confirm .

Restore device

You can restore the information you synced to Ovi back to your device. You will not lose any information added since the last sync, but some calendar or contact information may be duplicated.

To restore your device:
  1. Select Restore device and then Confirm .
  2. Sync your device. For instructions, see Sync your mobile device with Ovi .

Send sync settings

To set up sync for a device you have added to Ovi:
  1. Select Send SMS beside the device you want to send the sync settings to.
  2. Check your device details, and to confirm them, select Next .

    You will receive the sync settings for your mobile device in a text message.

  3. Note down the PIN code given on the Setup page, and select Finish .
  4. Open the sync settings text message on your mobile device, and enter the PIN code.
  5. Select Options > Save to install the settings to your mobile device.

Select preferred device

If you have added more than one mobile device to Ovi, select Select as active device beside your primary device. This helps you remember which device you have last synced with Ovi.

Sync your mobile device with Ovi

If you currently use another synchronisation method or application to manage your data, it is recommended that you do not sync information from Ovi to your device. Doing so may result in loss of data. You can, however, sync information from your device to Ovi. For more information about how to select the sync type, see Advanced sync settings .

Using network services involves transmission of data. Check with your service provider for details about fees in your home network and when roaming in other networks.

To sync your mobile device with Ovi, you must first add your device to Ovi, and install the sync settings specific to your device. For more information, see Add your mobile device to Ovi. After adding your device, you can sync your calendar entries, contacts, and notes between your mobile device and Ovi at any time.

To start the sync from your device:

  1. Open the Sync application on your mobile device. For details, see the user guide or in-device help of your device.
  2. Select Ovi.com as the synchronisation profile and Options > Synchronise . You must connect to the Internet, when prompted, for the sync to succeed.
